A really easy way to focus your mind whilst meditating is to use Mala Beads.
Traditionally Mala beads are made from Rudraksha seeds, wood, bone or gemstones. I usually use a set which contains 108 beads as this is thought to be a sacred number. The mala beads also contain a Guru bead (a larger bead) and a tassel.
To meditate, holding the beads in your left hand and beginning at the bead to the right of the guru bead. Simply turn each bead with the thumb and middle finger whilst repeating a mantra or affirmation. Continue all the way around until you get to the Guru bead (If you wish to meditate for longer turn the beads around and return in the opposite direction). When you reach the Guru bead hold it for a few moments and reflect on any emotions or feelings that have arisen during the meditation. Take a deep breathe in and out. Give Thanks and Gratitude.
Mantras and affirmations are used when meditating with mala beads as a way to focus the mind. Say the mantra out loud or silently if you wish. Personally I feel by saying it out loud you are giving the words more meaning. Make sure to repeat the whole mantra on each bead.
Some examples of mantras I like to use:
“Abundance flows freely into my life more and more each day”
“I AM strong, I AM powerful, IAM healthy, I AM loved “
“My heart is open, My heart is open and filled with love”
Namaste
